CLAPBOARDS – THE BASIC REQUIREMENT OF A DIRECTOR.


Clapboards are the wooden boards which are proved to be every director’s essential. Clapboards are a significant part of every director’s direction. The process of direction initiates with this clapboards. In film fraternity every director uses this device. Also known as clapboard slate, clapper slate, scene slate and the like. This board comes wide, long and is horizontally covering the outer walls of the frames.

To start shooting on the sets or to shoot motion pictures and videos these are used in order to synchronize the sound, actions along with the picture. Assigned task is to be started with the clap of this board. In order to synchronize the sound and action the crew members has to observe the clap or the sound created by the clapboards.

This device is to fulfill the purpose of the identification of the scene number, name of the movie, scene name and characters. It consists of the date, director’s name, scene information and also the production title as follows:

With the progress in the field of arts, there is a progress made too in the field of direction after all it’s an art too. This device works like when theses clap sticks come closer it produces a clapping sound which indicates the respective workers to start their work, which if started together ends up with perfect synchronization.
There is the one and only director of this world and that is almighty god who needs no clapboards to synchronize the work of his.
